Sheldon Crane, PhD

Sheldon Crane is Senior Chemical Director, Chemistry at Sygnature Discovery. He provides scientific leadership across medicinal chemistry programs, supporting multidisciplinary teams from target identification through to candidate selection and preclinical candidate delivery. An organic and medicinal chemist with more than 25 years of drug discovery experience, he has extensive expertise in small-molecule design, lead optimisation and the advancement of therapeutics across a range of disease areas.

Sheldon joined Sygnature Discovery through the acquisition of NuChem Therapeutics, where he held a series of senior leadership positions including Principal Investigator, Director and Senior Director. Prior to NuChem, he spent more than nine years at Merck in medicinal chemistry research roles and also worked as an independent scientific consultant. Sheldon holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Memorial University and completed postdoctoral studies in Organic Chemistry at Harvard University.
