From Idea to Library: The Process to Deliver 40,000 Unique Lead-like Compounds

Abstract

The ELF is a €200M project (supported by the InnovativeΒ Medicines Initiative and European Federation ofΒ Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA)) thatΒ aims to promote drug discovery in Europe by producing aΒ new collection of 500,000 drug-like compounds for high throughputΒ screening (HTS) by the public sector in a varietyΒ of therapeutic areas.

  • 300,000 compounds have been donated by EFPIAΒ partners.
  • 200,000 compounds are being designed, generatedΒ and synthesised equally by Sygnature Discovery andΒ four other SMEs in collaboration with academia.
  • The new libraries being synthesised will focus on: novelty,Β shape (eg. sp3-rich cores), diversity potential andΒ innovative library design and will complement classicalΒ compound collections.
