Where a delayed onset of drug effect is forecast, dosing can continue for up to 7 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color has-text-xl-font-size wp-elements-14d754a8c8edbf33530a7c6da96163f8\" style=\"color:#101828\">Key Study<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4e151a85d1f3ef4665fed4963bd90db1 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#344054\">An example of an acute study set up is as follows, for mice and rats:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-text-base-font-size\">Drugs can be administered by various routes (e.g. po, sc, ip, iv)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-text-base-font-size\">Mice\u00a0or rats\u00a0are acclimatised to palatable wet mash (4 h\/day). Drugs are administered before mash and food intake is measured subsequently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-text-base-font-size\">Rats\u00a0are maintained under reverse-phase lighting with free access to normal, powdered rat chow.
