IT Operational Support Technician – Tytherington/Alderley Park

About the role

Sygnature Discovery is looking for an experienced IT Operational Support Technician to help with the day to day running of the IT Helpdesk and all associated tasks. Reporting to the IT Operational Support Team Leader and working within a team of technicians. This role will oversee several different IT areas and enthusiasm and experience of a wide range of IT areas would be beneficial.

This role will be based at our site in Tytherington, Macclesfield with occasional travel to another Cheshire based site at Alderley Park, and less frequently to our Nottingham site.

Principal responsibilities will include:

  • Support of User Hardware (PC & Laptops)
  • User account management
  • Meeting room support
  • Scientific Instrument PC’s support
  • Application installation and maintenance
  • Instrument data acquisition
  • Training of all colleagues
  • Delivering hardware rolling replacements
  • Decommissioning hardware
  • OS and Application updates and patches
  • Toner/Printer management
  • Client Project support – start and finish
  • Staff and hardware relocations
  • IT Helpdesk management and development
  • Managing Visitor access / Wi-Fi

 

Person Specification: to succeed in the role, you will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Good understanding of computer hardware and associated peripherals.
  • Experience of installing / deploying and maintaining applications in a commercial setting is highly desirable.
  • Good knowledge of Windows OS and Office applications.
  • Good understanding of network technology including cabling, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and VLANS.
  • Good understanding of managing users and computers in AD and O365.
  • Good understanding of IT and Data security requirements and best practises.
  • Logical thinking with good prioritisation, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Confident communication and customer service skills.
