Bioanalytical Specialist: Senior/Principal Scientist (DMPK) – Nottingham

This growing department is looking for a talented Senior/Principal bioanalytical scientist to support the in vitro DMPK team.

You will join a dynamic department actively discovering new drugs for a broad range of projects, molecular targets and therapeutic indications.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure efficient operation of Departmental LC-MS/MS systems, including preventative maintenance and system performance checks.
  • Develop chromatographic methodologies and mass spectrometer/uv detection methods to cover a wide range of chemical matter from multiple Discovery Programmes.
  • Experience in developing sample preparation approaches for plasma, blood, urine and tissues. Also apply these strategies to trouble-shoot both DMPK and Bioscience assay development.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot bioanalytical measurements supporting in vitro and in vivo DMPK assays.
  • Provide expert bioanalytical support to Sygnature Project Teams to tackle issues and permit project progression.
  • Support day-to-day running of the laboratory and work scheduling.
  • Build strong, effective working relationships with the internal team and clients where applicable.
  • Line management of team members.

 

Key requirements:

  • , MSc. and/or PhD. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related disciplines with 4+ years laboratory-based experience of quantitative LC-MS assay support is essential.
  • Significant experience of LC-MS/MS techniques (triple quadrupoles, orbitraps, UPLC chromatography) and experience of preventative maintenance and maximising system up-time.
  • Significant expertise in bioanalytical method development supporting in vitro and in vivo
  • Strategic awareness and understanding and application of the bioanalytical support in drug discovery.
  • Flexible approach to work, able to deal with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Training and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Liquid handling/robotics experience would be desirable.
  • Experience of metabolite identification would be desirable.
